Savage Brothers MC Boxed Set Books 1-6 by Jordan Marie (2)

Foreword

May contain spoilers if you haven’t read.

This boxed set is bittersweet for me. These books began my journey as an author and I went from someone who wondered if they could write a book people would want to read, to feeling like a “real” author. These stories weren’t easy to write—with the exception of Dragon because that story was a labor of love and Dragon dictated the whole thing. Actually, Dragon dictated all of the books… with the exception of one. Crusher.

Years later and Claiming Crusher is still the hardest book I’ve ever written. There were so many other books that one had to jive with. Timelines had to be in sync, characters had to be understood and I’m still not sure I accomplished it. I do know I bled daily for that book. Of all my heroines, Dani is probably the most hated. I understand it. In Breaking Dragon, she was supposed to die. I had the words in my head and Dragon (as he did the entire book when he wanted something) refused to let me put her down. He wanted Dani saved. I should also tell you that though he wanted her with Crusher, he wanted me to end the series after Crusher and end it with him dumping gasoline all over the Savage clubhouse, striking a match to a cigarette and then tossing it over his shoulder as he walked off. Dragon and I went round after round about that. He’s still not happy with me. He felt the club nearly cost him his woman, and that his men lied to him and forced him to rely on Skull and others more than he ever would have. He was done… totally done.

As a result, Dragon stopped talking after a few chapters in Claiming Crusher and that made it even harder for me, because his voice had been the driving power behind this series. Slowly a small voice began to take over. It wasn’t Crusher. It was Dani. She began telling her story slowly at first, quietly always, but she drove Claiming Crusher. And Crusher? I never knew he had a voice, until we got to the part where Dani was very obviously drowning in life and ready to die. Then he spoke up and he was determined to save her. I tried so hard to get him to stay with Dragon and the boys. He didn’t want that. He wanted to move forward with Diesel. He wanted a new beginning for Dani. I didn’t understand it, but then at the time I never planned on writing a whole new MC. I was going to do Diesel’s story maybe, but it was so far off into the future, a part of me thought you guys would tire of me before I ever got around to it.

Dancer was an asshole, but I think he came full circle in Needing Carrie. That Novella was just really for my reading group on Facebook, (Jordan’s Badass Bitches holla! #BB4L) but I felt it was needed to clear up Dancer’s past and bring him into the future.

Bull will always be one of my favorite men. He grew as a man so much when he met Skye. She saved him. If there hadn’t been a Saving Dancer, then Bull’s story would have been Saving Bull for sure. But then, I think that’s the theme of the Savage Brothers series. In each of these books, their women save them. It takes a strong woman to do that, but in the end they all do—even Dani who despite everything she had endured, at the end was there for Crusher when he needed her most.

I started to just throw the box set out there, but I’ve never done one. I always felt weird putting a box set out without anything new for the readers. I have too many of you girls who buy just to support me (and omg I love you for that). So, I wanted to do some type of bonus material.

I wanted to do a Crusher and Dani novella because you will see them more in Devil and Diesel, but two chapters in, I had to stop. They’re too happy. They’re blissfully happy and Crusher forbid me to put Dani through anything more. He’s so in love and she is too, that there was no story to tell. The same could be said for all of them honestly. So, with direction from my reading group on what they’d like, and the characters themselves, at the end of each book you will get a bonus chapter (or chapters), of each couple letting you guys see where they are today and how they are doing.

Finally, I want to thank you for reading, for your support and for reaching out to me since I started writing. I wish I could tell you how much you each mean to me. Dealing with my mom’s declining health and illness—especially this last year—has nearly done me in. There were days I had to fight to get out of bed. But on each of those days you guys would do something to remind me to breathe, to make me smile, or to make me remember there’s still kindness out there. From notes, to reviews, to texts, and even surprise packages of chocolates, I keep getting blown away by you all. I love you and thank you from the bottom of my heart.

xoxo
